As expected, it was an easy stage, the goal was to reach Tromsø by doing only 48km, after the ferry from Svensby to Breivikeidet. I did it by taking my time in 2h20, it was a mostly flat route, with beautiful landscape under the sun.
I made a small break at a bus stop at about 25km, just to eat some nuts, cleaning my chain — Normally, it’s a part of my morning routing, but this morning I was a bit late to catch the ferry — In addition to that, I chatted with two locals guys, one of them has his home just behind the bus stop. He explained to me that I will enjoy the route to the Lofoten because it’s an amazing one, especially with a good weather. The second one arrived just after, it was an old guy, retired from the navy. He asked me about my travel, and he explained me some stuff about the Norway and the past weather conditions... It was nice to chat with them and it made me think, that if I want to share a bit more with locals, I may have to reduce my goal of 100km per day... will see because until yesterday there were nobody on the route!
After this longer break than expected, I get back on bike, and rode a bit more slowly to enjoy the landscape and the province of Tromsø.
At 3pm, I arrived at the campsite, set up my tent, washed my bike, took my lunch in the kitchen at the campers disposal. I met a nice french couple. They are living and working here for few month. Then I did a small tour in Tromsø. I drank my first beer, went back to the campsite, took a shower and a sauna. Oh yeah!
What a nice day today!
After a good night in my tent close to the river and a good breakfast (coffee with Tortilla, peanut butter and chocolate spread), I went back to the city to discover a bit more Tromsø and to find a good rain trouser cause mine doesn’t work anymore... It seems that Tromsø is a nice place to live, with one quite long main street and those wooden houses. Tromsø has been renamed « Nordens Paris ». I don’t know why because everything looks calm and peaceful. I should stay a bit more to understand...
For the afternoon, I have planned to go hiking a bit, to take a bit of height. I climbed on the mountain 'ledge Storsteinen' (421 m above sea level) — for the lazy people there is the cable car option — and at the top you get a great point of view of the all city.
I took some pictures, and then I went a bit higher before starting to go down by running, falling and sliding on the snow like a kid.
A magic feeling!
