Maybe the real first day of the adventure.
It has been a hard day for many reasons. First, it was the first day with all my stuff loaded on the bike and then it was a long ride. Something like 97km under the wind, the rain and the snow. — A good taste of what Artic Circle really is — But the main reason is elsewhere... The day started with the thing I was afraid of : a series of « TUNNELEN » as they say in norwegian! The first one was 4.5km long (~10min biking). When I finally reached the end, there was a closed door... It was an automatic door. ? These doors protect the tunnels from extreme weather conditions.
The second one was a joke but the third... It was the biggest and the most scary one for today and perhaps for the rest of my journey. 6.8km long, downhill at 10% to go under the sea level at -230m deep. I reached the bottom in a second. Then, a big uphill at 10%, it took something like an "eternity" to climb it and to get out of it. It was fucking long!!! After that I took a small break, just at the exit, and restarted riding by hoping to find a good spot to eat.
After an hour, I finally saw a hut in ruins. In fact, it’s a good spot! I ate, and took the time to warm up my frozen feet. I changed my bike shoes for my hiking ones and put my winter socks. After that, I restarted biking. The afternoon was way more nicer, just rain and snow, but no more wind and tunnel.
Now, it’s time to go to bed in my tent, located behind an hotel, and a big bus stop.
Good night.
